Brief introduction
Received her BSc. (Hons) Biology, University of Tasmania, Australia in 1978, MSc. (Univ. College London) and PhD in Philosophy of Science, University of Lancaster, U.K.. She specializes in several areas such as environmental and bioethics, science, religion and development; interfaith and intercivilisational dialogue. She has published widely in all these areas (14 books & monographs and more than 100 articles). She is also active in several NGOs that are connected with development as well as being a member of various advisory and consultative committees for ministries such as Unity & National Integration, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Women’s and Social Development, Ministry of Science and Technology. Besides annually giving papers at various conferences locally and abroad, she is also invited regularly to give inputs through the local media regarding issues that are of relevance and connected to her areas of specialization. She was Director of the Centre for Civilisational Dialogue, University of Malaya (UM) (2000-2011). Currently she is professor at the Department of Science & Technology Studies at the UM as well Deputy Director-General at the *Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM); where one of her major functions is to supervise the research and publication divisions. Her own area of focus is science and religion.?Through IKIM she contributes regularly to the local STAR newspaper and goes on air live over IKIMfm (IKIM’s radio) on Science and Islam/religion.
